"Choir and group singing is my passion. I truly believe that everyone should feel encouraged and free to use their voices as an expressive tool and to explore what they think and feel about the world around them. My classroom motto is I would rather you sing wrong notes loud and proud than right notes wimpy! I am so excited to get to know you all and your voices and make joyful music together."

Fun Fact #1 — I do a lot of reading, art, and fiber crafts.

Fun Fact #2 — I am of Native Alaskan descent, which is where my last name comes from! Amaroq means wolf. My grandfather was born and raised in Nome, Alaska.

Fun Fact #3 — I currently have four cats: my cat is Figaro, my husband's cat is Tippy Tom, and we are taking care of a bonded pair of senior cats, Mama Toe Beans and her daughter Goose.

I choose to work at NOVA because I am an adult and teacher who is like the students that we serve. I am very excited to be in an environment that is considerate of all types of learners and individuals where we can all flourish together.

Land Acknowledgement

NOVA is located on the ancestral lands of the Steh-Chass band of the Squaxin Island Tribe and Nisqually Indian Tribe, who have long been stewards of the region’s waters, plants, and animals. The southernmost point of the Salish Sea, these lands were—and still are—a place of gathering, trade, and community for many Coast Salish peoples. We recognize that all who are not Salish peoples are visitors here. We commit to join these peoples to share their history, build relationships, increase representation, and restore the living world around us.
